We evolve to meet the demands of today's information technology marketplace.

Today, the RMS model is to offer clients a hardware and software infrastructure that supports communications at all levels of business.
Change is a "Given" in the Information Technology Marketplace
RMS is an established information technology integrator with nearly 30 years experience in emerging technologies. Founded in 1976 by Rick Rubenstein, RMS began as a custom software developer. The company is wholly owned by Rubenstein and his partner, Paul Zucker, who joined Rubenstein in 1979. While it began as a custom software developer, RMS has changed its focus a number of times over the last twenty years to meet the fluid demands of the information technology marketplace.

Beginning in the late 1970s, the computer software industry, once dominated by custom-developed software, began to shift in favor of standardized application packages. To respond to these changes in software technology, RMS began to resell application packages developed by other organizations.

In 1982, RMS developed and marketed its own order management package (MOM/3000) for manufacturing companies. For five years, MOM/3000 was the premiere order management package used at companies using Hewlett-Packard's MM/3000, PM/3000 and FM/3000 software. MOM/3000 was designed to look and operate exactly like these HP software products as well as seamlessly integrate with them. RMS supported MOM/3000 clients throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. By 1988, RMS' business was split almost 50/50 between custom development and the sales and support of commercial application packages. The bulk of RMS customers were either manufacturers or distributors.

The late 1980s and early 1990s brought the advent of Open Systems Architecture and networking. As successful as RMS had been in providing application solutions, the company began to realize the opportunities that existed in providing services in the exploding area of technology. During the late 1980s, RMS began the transition from a services and solution package supplier to a services and technology provider.

Communication is Key
Today, the RMS model is to offer clients a hardware and software infrastructure that supports communications: communications with co-workers, customers and suppliers. The implementation of emerging technologies to support communications is now the foundation of RMS' business. RMS clients include companies of all sizes in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, education, government, financial services and professional services. Products and services RMS offers include network planning and implementation (LAN and WAN), network and systems management, client server integration, office automation, security, and technology audits.

Master at Effective Partnering
Even the most sophisticated end user can find the complexity of today's technology daunting. Selecting, coordinating and managing multiple vendors and service providers can be time-consuming, frustrating, problematic and occasionally disastrous. RMS partners with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to offer end users a way to simplify the process and reduce the risk of bad decisions and inefficient, problem-plagued implementations. An experienced systems integrator like RMS working with an ISV will make everyone's work easier and more efficient.

RMS joined Hewlett-Packard's ISV/Reseller Technology Partnering Program in 1994 and by 1995 had emerged as the Midwest leader in forging ISV/Reseller partnerships in the HP environment.

RMS' Relationship with HP has Remained a Constant
While many aspects of RMS' business have changed in the last 26 years two things have remained constant: commitment to quality service and a solid relationship with Hewlett-Packard. RMS and HP have been business partners since 1979. Hewlett-Packard is the only computer vendor with which RMS has partnered.

Over the years, HP has accorded RMS a number of different designations. In November 1993, the Chicago sales center chose RMS as their primary business partner. In August of 1994--the company's first year as a computer reseller--RMS was designated by HP as a Distributor Authorized Reseller Top Seller. This same year, RMS was ranked the number one regional reseller in overall satisfaction by Hewlett-Packard sales and management. Since 1995, RMS has been designated as a 'Best-In-Class' reseller. This ranking is determined by the results of surveys performed by HP--surveys that measure not just quantity of business but also the quality of the organization and the satisfaction level of its clients. RMS' longstanding commitment to premiere client service comes through loud and clear.

RMS Excels in Cisco Partnership
In 1996, RMS chose to partner with Cisco Systems to expand our networking practice. We rapidly became a Premier Partner and have since been established as Cisco’s “Go-To-Partner” for Wireless Technology. This designation illustrates the commitment RMS has maintained to providing exemplary service.
